DYO — Care Guide
Made to last.
Cared for to endure.
Each DYO piece is designed as a long-term companion to your wardrobe. With the right care, your essentials will hold their shape, colour, and character for years to come.
01 — Blazers
Structure
preserved.
DYO blazers are crafted from a polyester and viscose blend — chosen for its ability to hold structure across seasons without compromising softness.
Hand wash or gentle cycle at 30°C. Turn inside out before washing.
Lay flat to dry. Never tumble dry — heat will compromise the padded shoulder structure.
Steam lightly if needed. Do not press directly with a hot iron.
Hang on a wide, padded hanger in a breathable garment bag.
After each wear
Air your blazer for 30 minutes before returning it to the wardrobe. This reduces the need for frequent washing and allows the fibres to recover their natural shape.
Remove pilling
After extended wear, use a fabric shaver to gently remove any pilling. This keeps the surface looking fresh and extends the life of the blazer significantly. Always shave in the direction of the fabric grain.
Treating stains
Blot gently with a damp cloth — never rub. Use mild detergent diluted in cold water for persistent stains, working from the outside inward.
Seasonal storage
Store clean and completely dry. Use a breathable cover, not plastic. Cedar blocks protect against moths without leaving fragrance residue.
DYO Note
"A well-structured blazer rarely needs washing. Air it out, spot-treat when needed, and use a fabric shaver after extended wear — this is how a blazer lasts years, not seasons."
02 — Body tanks
Second skin,
lasting fit.
DYO body tanks are made from organic cotton and ECONYL® — a regenerated nylon derived from ocean waste. Use a small amount of neutral detergent and always wash at low temperatures to preserve the fabric and fit.
Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle. Use a small amount of neutral detergent. Wash whites separately. Use a mesh laundry bag for extra care.
Air dry flat or on a hanger away from direct sunlight. Never tumble dry.
Cotton bodies: iron on medium heat, avoiding elastane panels. ECONYL® bodies: do not iron — steam lightly if needed.
Fold flat in a drawer. Avoid hanging for extended periods.
Wash frequency
Body tanks worn directly against skin should be washed after every one to two wears. Washing too infrequently allows body oils to break down fibres from within.
Use a laundry bag
Place body tanks in a mesh laundry bag before machine washing. This protects snap closures from snagging and prevents strap distortion during the spin cycle.
Strap adjustment
DYO body tank straps are designed to be adjustable at a tailor. If straps have stretched over time, a professional alteration will restore the original fit.
DYO Note
"A small amount of neutral detergent goes a long way. Less is more — for both the fabric and the environment."
03 — Tops
Effortless,
enduring.
DYO tops — including the Satin Blouse and Sheer Tank — are made from delicate fabrics that reward gentle handling. Satin in particular requires specific care to maintain its characteristic lustre and drape.
Satin Blouse: wool programme at 30°C, low spin, in a mesh laundry bag. Sheer Tank: delicate cycle at 30°C in a mesh bag.
Never wring. Roll in a clean towel to remove excess water, then hang to air dry away from direct sunlight.
Satin Blouse: iron on the lowest setting on the reverse side with a pressing cloth. Sheer Tank: do not iron.
Hang to avoid permanent fold lines. Store away from rough surfaces — satin snags easily.
Use neutral detergent
Always use a small amount of neutral detergent when washing satin. Harsh detergents strip the natural sheen from the viscose fibres over time.
Avoid perfume contact
Apply perfume before dressing. Alcohol in fragrance can cause permanent discolouration on lighter satin tones.
Professional cleaning
For particularly delicate tops, professional dry cleaning is recommended. Always communicate the fibre content to your dry cleaner beforehand.
DYO Note
"Satin's lustre lives in the surface. Handle it carefully and it will reward you with a finish that no other fabric can replicate — season after season."
04 — Knitwear
Warmth
without compromise.
DYO knitwear is crafted from wool and wool-blend fabrics, including pieces made from recycled overstock materials. Natural fibres reward the patience of hand washing and careful drying.
Hand wash in lukewarm water (max 30°C) using a specialist wool detergent. Never use regular detergent.
Lay flat on a dry towel in the original shape. Never hang knitwear wet — water weight will stretch the shoulders irreversibly.
Do not iron directly. Use a steamer held at a distance or a damp cloth on low heat.
Fold flat — never hang. Use cedar blocks or lavender sachets. Avoid plastic bags.
Pilling
Pilling is a natural characteristic of quality wool. Remove pills gently with a cashmere comb or fabric shaver, working slowly in the direction of the weave.
Wash frequency
Wool is naturally antibacterial. Air after each wear and wash only when visibly soiled — typically every 5 to 7 wears.
Snagging and pulls
If a thread is pulled, do not cut it. Use a blunt needle to gently work the loop back through to the inside of the garment.
Between-season storage
Wash before long-term storage — moths are attracted to body oils, not wool itself. Store clean, folded, in a sealed container with cedar.
DYO Note
"Wool has been worn and cared for for thousands of years. Treat it with patience and it will outlast almost any synthetic alternative in your wardrobe."
05 — Trousers
The shape
holds.
DYO trousers — including the Utility Pants and Satin Pants — are cut to hold their silhouette across multiple wears. With proper care, the drape and structure remain consistent over time.
Utility Pants: for the best result, we recommend professional dry cleaning. Satin Pants: hand wash in cold water with neutral detergent.
Hang from the waistband. Smooth creases by hand while still damp. Never tumble dry.
Utility Pants: iron on medium heat while slightly damp. Satin Pants: lowest setting on reverse side with a pressing cloth.
Hang by the waistband or fold along the natural crease. Wide-leg styles are best hung to prevent permanent fold lines.
Between wears
Air trousers for at least 20 minutes after wearing. This allows moisture to dissipate and reduces wear at friction points.
Crease maintenance
Hang immediately after washing and smooth the crease by hand. A light steam along the crease line sets it for the next several wears.
Hem care
Check the hem regularly for loose threads. Address small repairs promptly — a loose hem thread left unattended can unravel quickly.
DYO Note
"The Utility Pants are designed to be worn repeatedly. The more you wear them, the more the fabric relaxes into your body. Wash less, wear more — they will only get better."
